ஐந்து காய வேதனை அன்பர்
இயேசுவை வாட்டுதே
The pain of the five wounds
Caused our beloved Jesus to suffer.

ஆறாத சோகம் மாறாத துன்பம்
ஆண்டவர் இயேசு மேல் சூழ்ந்ததேன்
Unending sorrow and unceasing agony
Surrounded the Lord Jesus.

கற்றூணில் கட்டி
கசையடிகள் அடித்தனரே
They bound Him to the pillar
And scourged Him with cruel lashes.

தலையினிலே குத்தி அவர்
கன்னத்தில் அறைந்தனரே
They pressed a crown upon His head
And struck Him on His cheeks.

சிவப்பங்கி உடுத்தி கையில்
கோலினைக் கொடுத்தனரே
They clothed Him in a scarlet robe
And placed a reed in His hand.

யூத ராஜா என்று இகழ்ந்து
முகத்தில் காறி உமிழ்ந்தனரே
Mocking Him as "King of the Jews,"
They spat upon His face.

மன்னவர் இயேசு உடல்
பெரும் புண்ணாகி நொந்ததுவே
The body of King Jesus
Was covered with grievous wounds.

மாபெரும் இரத்த வெள்ளம்
பெருகி ஆறாகி பாய்ந்ததுவே
A great flood of blood
Flowed from Him like a river.

மானிடர் பாவம் தனை மா
தேவன் சுமந்து தீர்த்தார்
The mighty God
Bore and removed the sins of mankind.

மறாவாதே நீ நெஞ்சமே மனம்
திரும்பிடு அவர் தஞ்சமே
Forget it not, O my heart;
Repent and find refuge in Him.
