Is this justice you speak, O Lord?
If the righteous fail to practice virtue,

ஆதுலர்க் கீவதே பாக்கியம் பிறரை
ஆதரித்திடுவதே யோக்கியம் ஓ கோ
Helping the needy is true blessing,
Supporting others is true righteousness, O!

பாதகம் செய்யில் நிர்ப்பாக்கியம் மோட்ச
பாதை நடக்கில் சிலாக்யம்
Doing evil brings misfortune,
Walking the path of salvation brings glory.

தரித்திரர்க் கிரங்குவோன் உடனே இடுவான்
தற்பரனுக் கவன் கடனே என்று
The one who shows mercy to the poor gives at once,
Knowing it is his duty to the Supreme Lord,

கருத்துடன் கருதியில் திடனே உரைத்தார்
கடுநெஞ் சகல் மானிடனே
He spoke firmly with deep intention,
Even to the hard hearted mankind.

அம்புடன் விதவையும் போட்ட காசை
அதி வியப்பாய் காட்டப் புகழ்
The widow who offered even two coins,
Was shown as a great example with admiration,

இன்புடன் அவள் மிசை சூட்ட அதை
எவர்களும் அகத்தினில் நாட்ட
With joy her offering was praised,
And all were inspired within their hearts.

பிறர் புகழும்படி இன்றே செய்தால்
பிரயோசனமிலை என்றே பரன்
If done only for human praise, it has no benefit,
So the Lord declared in wisdom,

மறையதில் விளம்பினார் நன்றே-அம்
மாதிரி விலகாது நின்றே
It is well spoken in the scriptures,
Thus we must never deviate from it,

பிரிதானம் வாங்குதல் தீது அதைப்
பறித்தறம் செய்தல் தகாது உமக்
Accepting bribes is evil,
Seizing others’ wealth is improper for you,

குரியதில் ஈவது போதம் இதில்
ஓன்றி இருப்பதே நீதம்
Giving what is rightful is wisdom,
Staying firm in this is justice,

ஏழைகட் கீயாது ஆஸ்தி ஐயே
ஈண்டு சேர்த்திடில் என்ன கீர்த்தி இதோ
If wealth is not given to the poor, O Sir,
What glory is there in hoarding it?

வாழுல கடைந்திடில் நேர்த்தி என்றும்
வாழலாம் அதுவே மா பூர்த்தி
If life is lived with virtue,
One can live fulfilled forever that is true completeness.
